Opportunities for Support
All students admitted to the Human Physiology PhD Program will receive five years of funding as a Graduate Employee, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing per UO Policy. Continued funding is contingent on making satisfactory academic progress, as defined by the Division of Graduate Studies and our program. Support can come in the form of teaching or research appointments, and is tailored to the interest and experience of each student. Current PhD students are encouraged to work with their advisors to apply for fellowships and scholarships from external organizations, like the American Heart Association or National Institutes of Health. To be eligible for all opportunities, students must be currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the UO and be in good academic standing at the university and department levels per UO Policy.
American Physiological Society Memberships
Each year HPHY faculty sign up for a group membership that includes 10 free spots for graduate students. Priority for those 10 sponsored memberships will be given to HPHY students traveling to the APS annual meeting. If more than 10 students are traveling to the APS meeting, then priority will be given to those who have not attended the meeting previously and/or received a free departmental membership and/or enhance the DEI representation of our graduate program at the annual meeting and within the APS. Membership allocations will be determined by the DGS in consultation with the Graduate Committee.
