Departmental Advising and Support

Students in the Multidisciplinary Science program have multiple pathways for seeking academic advising and support. They can set up an appointment at Tykeson College and Career Advising, work with the program director, or receive coaching from the Health Professions Program.

Talk to the advisors at Tykeson Hall regarding:

  • Questions about major fit or major exploration
  • Short-term or long-term schedule planning
  • Exploring/Identifying minors
  • Help with navigating your degree
  • Checking academic progress
  • Career discussions

Talk to the program director regarding any of the above, along with:

  • Change of major requests
  • Honors in multidisciplinary science
  • Information on how transfer courses might apply to the major
  • Petitions and exceptions specific to program requirements
  • Commencement questions

Follow these guidelines to prepare for your advising session:

  • Become familiar with your degree guide, available on duckweb.
  • See your advisor as often as necessary. Avoid scheduling appointments at the busiest times of year such as the beginning of a term and the start of registration.
  • Make a list of your questions.
  • Take notes after your advising session so you can follow through on suggestions and strategies discussed.
