Experiential Learning

Our rigorous physics program hinges on experiential learning through research conducted in a variety of laboratories across the UO campus. Beginning as early as freshman year, students participate in cutting-edge research alongside our faculty. By developing practical skills through real-world experience, our graduates gain a competitive advantage and emerge from the program well-prepared for science-related careers.

Get Involved in Research

Whenever possible, physics students are encouraged to participate in vigorous faculty research programs. From observing the cosmos at Pine Mountain Observatory to designing their own experiments in the Advanced Projects Lab, the department offers ample opportunities to conduct their own research.
